Kevin Reilly on behalf of Edik & Liana – Uzhgorod, Ukraine
This month’s news from Ukraine is a mixture of miracles, challenges and blessings. Stories of God’s miraculous intervention in the life of a brother from the church who is drafted into the army sit alongside the hard-to-watch footage of a man being forcefully dragged into a van and taken to the frontline. And then there are the tremendous blessings of a beautiful ministry to orphan children and the eleven people who were baptised last Saturday – blessings in affliction.
Paul has it right: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.(2 Cor 1:3-4). Within affliction, comfort – because the God of all comfort is present in affliction. Reading Edik and Liana’s news is just that. Within the a context of suffering, there are stories of mercy and love and miracles and kingdom advance.
These very dark and hard times continue for Ukraine but then so do the testimonies of miracles and blessing – the God of all comfort so very present for his people.
06/06 – Edik rites: Hi dear Kevin and Emma. Everything in our family is the same and in the church, everything is also the same! Some refugees go to Europe to join their children, but new ones come at the same time. And they are all very grateful for the support and all the help that you provide to all of us. God also added two families from native Uzhgorod residents to the church. They accepted Jesus Christ in our church and are attending Bible school.
Also, two brothers from the church were drafted into the Army. They were caught on the street when leaving their houses and were not even allowed to visit their home and were immediately sent to a neighbouring area for preparation. We also started having power cuts again, just like at the beginning of the war. In general, it’s not very fun. Thank you for your prayers and for everything you do for all of us.
08/06 – Edik rites: Following on from our conversation the other day, this is how the local police, together with the military registration and enlistment office workers, take Ukrainian men to the front. This happened today in Uzhgorod. My friends sent me this. This is on Lermontov Street in our area…please pray for our country. (The video below was taken by a friend of Edik’s: a man is being dragged off and taken to the front. It is hard to watch…)
21/06 – Edik rites: Hello dear Kevin and Emma. We once again helped orphans from the orphanage and refugees from the Dnieper region – we organised a holiday for them. Also, a great answer to prayer! One brother, who was recently drafted into the army, has already been returned home to his mother! This is a miracle and an answer to prayer 🙌.
29/06 – Edik rites: Hi, dear Kevin and Emma! Today we had water baptisms at church! We baptised 11 people today. Unfortunately, several people who were planning to be baptised were away today, but we are planning, God willing, to have another baptism at the end of the summer! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌🎊🎊🎊
