Ukraine Update #25 – Kingdom Ministry Continues…

Kevin Reilly on behalf of Edik & Liana – Uzhgorod, Ukraine

Dear Friends, we would like to let you know that despite the fact that our newsletter is coming to an end and the Lighthouse Community is transitioning, the ministry of caring for the poor, preaching the gospel and making disciples in Uzhgorod continues.

Since the beginning of the war, in February 2022, as a community we have distributed €400,000 / £350 000 to support the ministry of Edik and Liana in Uzhgorod. They have housed, fed and cared for the poor. They have preached the gospel, baptised scores of people and started home groups in the hotel, led by refugees. They have supported other churches, cared for orphans and widows (literally) and been a blessing to hundreds upon hundreds of refugees and people in their community…and this work continues!

So despite the fact that things are changing for us personally and for the Lighthouse Community, this ministry continues. To those who support this work financially – thank you, and please continue to do so. And if you feel stirred to give into this work, please know that all gifts will continue to be sent directly to Edik and Liana in the same way that they have, since the beginning of the war (see here).

Thank you for your love and trust…

06/08 – Edik Writes: Hi, dear Emma.We were so happy to see the photos of the baptisms in your church. It is so wonderful to see people giving their lives to God and making a covenant with Him. It is especially nice when married couples come to God 🙂

We are also planning another baptism this summer at the end of August, as some of the refugees were inspired by the example of the last baptism and so we are preparing another group in our Bible school. We pray that God will touch them in a special way during the training and that any doubts will go away from them.

Below I have listed how we have used the money that you sent us in July:

  • 14 families were housed in the hotel at cost of 100 euros per room, per month;
  • about 40 people received financial assistance on average 40 euros;
  • we also paid 300 euros for the repair of the walls of the church in Beregovo and food for the children who attend the church school (see pics below);
  • we paid for meals for 51 people for 12 days, and this amounted to 2700 euros;
  • we paid 450 euros for the church conference room, 300 euros for the apartment and 90 euros for the warehouse;

Thank you so much for everything you do for all of us. We send you all our love and hugs!
